Once upon a time I went to England. It was my first trip back since I'd left there when I was 8. I was also going to meet my "natural" mother for the first time in my life. I travelled around for about um....9 weeks. 9 weeks in an English winter. I wasn't expecting to see the sun but I hadnt anticipated that I'd not see the actual sky. While I had an extravagantly excellent adventure, underneath was this layer of depression, I just dont know how you guys on that side of the planet exist without seeing the sky and survive in that grey nothing. :(
I travelled around and saw all the stoneage sites and relics, spent sometime in Wales, climbed the Black Hill while enduring a wind chill factor of -25!!! and tried really hard to drink mulled wine (eww), journeyed to Lyme Regis LOVED THAT!!! then I travelled up Bakewell and demolished the most scrumptious "Bakewell Tart",then on to Newcastle and ate Haggis ( deep fried, if you can believe that) with Scottish friends who recited Robbie Burns poetry on New years eve. I visited with my Mother and her family and met brothers and sisters who looked like me...very strange, we sat an watched Neighbours (Australian Soap) and nobody spoke much.....so yeah, that was fun.
When I finally arrived back in Sydney airport there was this God given cloudscape and beautiful summer daylight. I'll never forget how the sight of the Qantas plane, that was ready to take me home to Melbourne, undid me.....That was the moment I truely knew where "home" was.

I too need the sky, blue and bold. I get tired of it here. Although a warm place and lots of sun, we also have alot of humidity and haze.. The haze can get old, everything gets gray-yellow or something.. Very blah.. Sometimes for a weeks at a time before a nice clear day. :-)

Great shot :-) Thanks for the memories too!
